November Wellness Challenge – Let’s Make Things Interesting – $25 Amazon GC Giveaway

All righty folks, so you’ve read about the personal November Wellness Challenge I’ve given myself.  I’ve invited my readers to join in, and I have heard from a few of you that you are indeed, joining in.

And you know, I really appreciate those people letting me know!  It means so much (probably more than it should) when people comment and leave thoughts on this here blog.

I have decided to BRIBE motivate my readers in this challenge.  I’m giving away a digital $25 Amazon.com gift card at the end of November…yeah, that’s right!  It’ll be a great supplement for your Christmas shopping.

So…here’s the deal.  I’ve got my November Wellness Challenge going on, with THREE major components to it, and I want you to do it too:

PHYSICAL -

I am doing the Jump Up and Drink Up Challenge, but you can set any physical wellness goal you want to.  Some ideas:

- Get in 30 minutes of exercise a day.

- Eat 5 servings of fruits/vegetables a day.

- Spend 5 minutes stretching every day.

- Or anything else you may want to do.

HOME -

I’m working on de-cluttering my home this month.  Again, you can set whatever home wellness goal you want to. Ideas:

- Get rid of 50 things this month.

- Create and use a cleaning system.

- Get your kids involved in helping to clean.

- Work on that big project you’ve been putting off.

FINANCIAL -

This is my simplest challenge.  I’m just tracking everything I spend. You could also:

- Spend only cash on groceries this month.

- Set aside $$$ for emergencies.

- Start saving up for something you want.

- Create and follow a budget.

Sooo…do I have your attention yet?

For your chance to win a $25 Amazon.com gift card to help supplement your holiday shopping, you can join the challenge.  There’s nothing official for you to “sign”, simply leave a comment below and let me know you’re in, and then continue to check in letting me know how it’s going!  You can get an entry EVERY SINGLE DAY for the rest of the month, simply by checking in!

Now…let’s get healthy and happy…., and good luck.:-)

I stretch every hour when I get up from the compter and swim 3x a week.
    Thanks for the contest.

  3. Lisa Walker

I struggled with not buying too much on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I ended up buying a few things I didn’t really need and can’t use, so I will donate them. I did do a little better than I did last year!

  4. Shannon

    Got in 8 miles today!

  5. Amanda Sakovitz

I really need to cut back on little things like buying coffee daily so I can save more.

I’ve been working on decluttering. We moved last year and had more stuff than we knew what to do with. We’re down to two tubs in the storage room and two in our closet. I’m going to work on going through that too.

I use the library a lot. It has books, movies and music. I don;t think enough people take advantage of it. Also my library has electronic books, I haven’t tried it yet but I plan it. The best part is it doesn’t cost anything. I have been renovating my apartment, organizing, decluttering. I really think the more stuff you own the more that stuff ends up owning you. I am traveling at the end of January and I am at a little under 220 lbs. I and I am going to bust tail to safely “Yes Safely” drop 30 lbs before I leave. Proper diet, cardio 1 hour everyday followed by weight training 1 hour everyday. I think that people over look weight training in general as a powerful tool in battling the bulge. I don’t train like a weight lifter. I don’t life one day on one day off. I will lift everyday and I don’t lift heavy. The results can’t be argued really. I’d like hope to win an exercise bike that is small someday. I hope if you set a goal yourself that you follow through with it. Best of luck to everybody.

  13. Hannah

What wonderful goals. And Amazon is such an amazing place!

  14. Tara

  16. Emma

    1. Evelyn

Aren’t Kindle books awesome, Emma?? Amazon has a great selection of free and/or really cheap books, and I love it!

  17. L

My struggle has recently been with exercise. Time has been short but that’s no excuse for slacking on the treadmill.

  18. Tiffany

I’m a new reader and just saw this, but I’m in!

  19. Shannon

Ran a few miles today. Keeping up with the training

  20. Jill L

I’m working on getting fit and also decluttering. I’ve been getting better at exercising and eating right. I’ve also be seriously getting rid of stuff. Took a big garbage bag of clothes to the consignment shop this morning. Feels good.

  21. Meg

I got divorced at age 22, and was left without a home; with nothing. I lived back and forth between a few different homes-stayed with my parents for a while, a cousin, my best friend. I started working 60 hours a week between two jobs to save money and pay off some debts, and to raise my credit score a little. I am proud to say that my success was finally being able to afford to move into my own apartment this past August. I am 25 now and still working two jobs in addition to going to school- I’m about to enter my final semester in January- and although life is still a struggle, I couldn’t be more proud of myself for turning my life around and overcoming some very difficult times.

    1. Evelyn

Wow, Meg, what an inspirational story…good for you, and thank you SO much for sharing your story! You should definitely be proud of yourself. “:-)

  22. Barbara Montag

I’m having some difficult now getting my meals all in.
    I eat less more often.

  23. Amanda W

I’ve been using Sparkpeople.com since July and I’m doing really well. Exercising 4-5 times a week, drinking water and eating my fruits and veggies.

  24. domestic diva

I’m decluttering — and it’s going well. It’s kind of addictive (in a nice way).

  25. Daniel M

trying to sell stuff on ebay (declutter) to get some christmas cash, it’s not going very well

  26. aogable

I didn’t see this until today, but I’ve resolved to start exercising at least 5 days a week in December. I have a treadmill, and no excuses!!

  27. Sarah

I am wanting to work out a budget with my husband in the next week or two. It’s really hard to be motivated to sit down together and do it. Thanks for the challenge.

  28. Brandy

Going well. We’re keeping to our non-spending.

  29. Jl Johnson

I’m struggling with getting enough sleep. I think after I get home and spend time with family, do the duties of the household and get the kdis to sleep, I crave alone time. Time to putter and I feel like for my sanity I need that more than sleep sometimes but I know I need the sleep. My body does. How to balance????

  30. MJ Argo

I find it hard to make myself exercise every day.

  31. Crystal

I have already started decluttering my home and I got a great book called Cleaning House and it’s about getting rid of youth entitlement. Great book by the way!
I need more routine and organization and darn it, I will have it :)
Thanks for the chance at winning!
    Crystal

    1. Evelyn

Crystal, thanks for sharing!! I now have the book on my to-read list at Goodreads.com. :-)

  32. Laure A.

I’m definitely working on the financial challenge….I feel like if I buy groceries with cash it’s not really a purchase since I don’t see negative in my bank account! :)

  33. Shannon

Got in my run again this morning!

  34. Gianna

I’m in the process of de-cluttering the whole house and it is hard. I have not made any progress this week because everyone got sick.

  35. Barbara Montag

I think overall I’m doing pretty good – considering that there has been a lot of stress in my life.

    1. Evelyn

Good for you, Barbara! You can only do your best, and it sounds like you’re doing it!

  36. Natosha Zachary

I am tracking my spending and trying to save 10% of everything I spend. This is hard for me being on a limited budget, but I know I waste money on fast food and impulse buys, so it is doable.

  37. Lori

My goals are coming along I am trying to de-clutter and selling some stuff and giving some stuff away . I also set goals for my diet and being sure I get enough fiber

  38. Shannon

Worked out again today. On my way to the 5k

    1. Evelyn

Good luck, Shannon!!! I hope you’ll share with us how you do…:-)

  39. Laurel O.

I’m in! My goals are to drink less soda (and drinks that are high in sugar) and more water, organize the basement and declutter it, and not to overspend on groceries.

  40. Gina Alfani

I’m a new reader and late in joining in the challenge, but I’m in! Need to declutter in a big way!

    1. Evelyn

Hey, you join when you join, and it’s all good! Best of luck to you!

  41. Heather S

It is hard with the holiday spending. I also had to get some work done on the car and car insurance is due in Dec. I am trying to just pay it as fast as I can and keep track of where my money is going.

  42. Rosanne

Been exercising 45 minutes to an hour a day 5-6 days week for 9 months, took clothes to consignment store today and looked for discount on all Christmas gifts

    1. Evelyn

Holy cow Rosanne, that’s awesome!! Keep it up!

  43. Katie Contests

I’m trying to get my health under control! Stupid gallbladder -.-

  44. Tabitha @ Saving Toward A Better Life

I’m trying to declutter! I’m throwing things out right and left! Hubs jokes that if he stood still long enough, I’d probably throw him out too (or at the very least donate him to Goodwill!) . :)

    1. Evelyn

It sounds like you’re doing it right then, Tabitha! lol. :-)

  45. Shannon

I’m in! My challenge to run a 5k by Christmas. I’ve been working on this for a while but I’m really stepping it up.

  46. Barbara Montag

I’m struggling with a higher stress level – need my cardio!

  47. ky2here

Not too good – am getting laid off soon so it’s frightening. I’m glad I have a savings account and money in my checking account.

  49. Kelsey Apley

Trying to find space to keep things I want and things to toss.. i think once I get in a groove it will go fast!

  50. Kimberly Hilbert

I am working on de-cluttering my extra room. So far I’ve gotten rid of several board games, a bunch of trash and still have miles and miles to go

  51. Amy S

I am going on a walk today!

  52. Stacy

I’m committing to getting more physical this holiday season (so I can eat more! LOL)

  53. Katharine Davis

I realized I am way too hung up on trying to sell things on Craigslist to make back a little something. If it hasn’t sold in a month I itemize and donate it … done, out of the house and move on. My closet is my next clean out – need to get real and get rid of the things I have not worn in over two years.

  54. suzanne urban

My challenge is to build my creative business.

    1. Evelyn

Ooh, Susan, I like the sound of that!! Good for you!

  55. Iliana R

    Count me in! :))

  56. Alicia

My challenge is to not gain too much weight over the holidays. I’m battling the weight I gained on Thursday.

    Thanks for the giveaway >^..^<

    1. Evelyn

Thanksgiving is evil when it comes to weight!! :)

  57. Alicia Keen

i’ve been trying to drink more water

  58. Amy S

I have an injured hip and two injured shoulders. I am currently working on increasing my activity slowly and doing yoga. Headed out for a walk right now!

  59. Gina H.

My struggle is with losing weight.

  60. Barbara Montag

Another thing – need to get back to my regular strength training.

    1. Evelyn

      Ooh, I do too, Barbara!

  61. jeannie

The holidays are so hard for me to keep on eating healthy. I have like no willpower.

    1. Evelyn

Ha ha, I feel the same way! It was like Thanksgiving the other day awakened the starving beast inside me, and I can’t stop eating!!

  62. Terri Moore

My challenge is de-cluttering the house. With winter coming the piles just really get to me. I’m trying to tackle just one small area at a time. Keep only the best is a motto that helps me. The rest I will give away gladly.

    1. Evelyn

I love that motto, Terri! I may have to steal it for my own use, if that’s okay.:)

  63. gigi

I have been consistantly saving for my “mad money” for when we go on vacation in April. I only pay in bills (no change) and keep whatever change I get in my change jar – even if the total is $2.01, I don’t give the penny – I’ll give $3 and put the .99 in the jar………………………it really adds up – last year, I saved up $538 just in change – I do this just for my vacation money, but it could easily be started the beginning of the year and by the time Christmas rolled around, you’d have quite a bit saved up for gifts too!

    1. Evelyn

Holy cow, that’s a lot of change! You are awesome.:)

  64. Alicia Keen

    im saving my change

  65. Barbara Montag

My biggest challenge is drinking enough water.
It’s getting better but still needs improving.
    Thank you!

    2. Evelyn

Drinking water is tough for me too!

  66. Laura Jacobson

One of my biggest challenges is getting rid of stuff and decluttering! MY sons family moved back home with me last fall, and we have so much stuff and not enough room for it all. So hard to get myself and them organized. Still trying though!

    1. Evelyn

Hey, all you can do is try! Good for you for sticking with it and not giving up!

  67. Christy

I’m doing ok but the holidays are definitely challenging with all of the groceries and gifts to buy. I really need to prioritize and figure out where to cut back.

    1. Evelyn

The holidays are hard financially…not only are there gifts, but there are always awesome sales on food and it’s hard to not stock up! I am ashamed to admit it, but I used my credit card for groceries the other day so I could take advantage of food sales, and I didn’t have enough cash to stock up.

  68. Alicia Keen

starting a bag for a goodwill trip

    1. Evelyn

      Woo hoo! Go Alicia!

  69. Amy Green

I did consciously reduce my Christmas spending total this year.

  70. Daniel M

due to my poor health i already have to stretch and exercise daily, and drink lots of water, but not always easy to do 5 veggies every day

    1. Evelyn

Getting veggies in every day is probably the hardest part of healthy living for me. I can drink water, eat fruit, etc, but man, I struggle with the veggies! Good for you for doing your exercises and stretches every day; consistency is key!

  71. Ebie

honestly just trying to corral the kid clutter, haven’t figured out a system yet but it will be beaten!

    1. Evelyn

Ebie, I feel your pain…kid clutter is the hardest!

  72. ELIZA ELLIOT

Just joining today – gotta keep that budget in check!!

    1. Evelyn

Go Eliza, you can do it!!

  73. Shannon

I have been trying to think about my budget once we have a second child. It is super overwhelming the thought of paying for daycare for two kids. It will be really tight so I am hoping that my husband might get a raise in april, otherwise we’ll think about if we’d be better off waiting another year

    1. Evelyn

Shannon, I’m sorry! It’s true, daycare costs are insane. Here’s hoping for that raise come April!

  74. Meranda

I am trying to exercise 30 minutes a day. It’s more important now that I’m expecting so we’ll see how it goes!

    1. Evelyn

Meranda, CONGRATS on your upcoming arrival! I don’t think I exercised ONCE when I was pregnant, so kudos to you!!!

  75. Alicia Keen

i am starting a laundry system. Every Sunday

  76. Lisa Brown

I actually have always been excellent at budgeting, and I am keeping my budget, so far, for the holidays :)

    1. Evelyn

      Yay, good for you Lisa!

  77. Carly

I am getting better at saving money.

  78. Jessie C.

    I’m starting tracking my spending.

  79. Elsie

I am sorting and making progress, set a time each day to do some serious work in the downstairs ….

  80. Samantha D.

Hmmm, well I have several challenges to many to name at the moment. But I just live day by day so I don’t feel overwhelmed. I do make a lot of lists to. Of projects that need doing in the long run around the house, life goals, daily goals those usually go into my planner. Its not hard to feel overwhelmed. Weight wise trying to loose it so being more active means less time to snack, less money means less money to spend on snacks, and water is a lot cheaper and easier than the tons of sugary drinks. So at least i think i’m making some headway with that.

  81. Alicia Keen

i am getting better at budgeting

    1. Evelyn

Good for you, Alicia! Budgeting can be so frustrating, but at the same time, liberating!

  82. Margaret Smith

My challenges is loosing weight and I’m on & off a diet….got to get more on days.
I’m also decluttering my home since the summer and my family and I are doing really good with this job. (Feels good donating items too)

    1. Evelyn

Good for you, Margaret….I’m the same way with my eating! It feels so good to donate, and heck, that’s reason enough to de-clutter!

  83. Shannon

I decided last night to sit down and write out a chirstmas list. It really helps to see on paper who I need to buy for and I got a rough idea on budget. I am hoping to send aside extra cash this month since I get three paychecks this month rather than just two because of the way the weeks fall

    1. Evelyn

Having stuff on paper makes such a HUGE difference, doesn’t it? I’m a list maker, big time. :-)

  84. Shannon

I finally attacked my den which was a nightmare, I still have a couple boxes to sort and shred but it looks amazing in there now

    1. Evelyn

      Woo hoo, GO SHANNON!!!:-)

  85. stacy

I’ve gotten rid of more than 50 objects already…still working on more.

    1. Evelyn

Holy cow, Stacy, way to go!!! My household has been down with the flu, and I’ve not done well this last week…but your comment has re-motivated me, so thank you for sharing!

  86. Shannon

I am in, I’d love to set new goals for myself

  87. Michelle Gale

Hey, I’m in! This contest sounds like so much fun- thanks for hosting it!

  88. Dawn/KenM

I struggle with keeping a Christmas budget – working on it though!
