November Wellness Challenge – Let’s Make Things Interesting – $25 Amazon GC Giveaway

All righty folks, so you’ve read about the personal November Wellness Challenge I’ve given myself.  I’ve invited my readers to join in, and I have heard from a few of you that you are indeed, joining in.

And you know, I really appreciate those people letting me know!  It means so much (probably more than it should) when people comment and leave thoughts on this here blog.

I have decided to BRIBE motivate my readers in this challenge.  I’m giving away a digital $25 Amazon.com gift card at the end of November…yeah, that’s right!  It’ll be a great supplement for your Christmas shopping.

So…here’s the deal.  I’ve got my November Wellness Challenge going on, with THREE major components to it, and I want you to do it too:

PHYSICAL -

I am doing the Jump Up and Drink Up Challenge, but you can set any physical wellness goal you want to.  Some ideas:

- Get in 30 minutes of exercise a day.

- Eat 5 servings of fruits/vegetables a day.

- Spend 5 minutes stretching every day.

- Or anything else you may want to do.

HOME -

I’m working on de-cluttering my home this month.  Again, you can set whatever home wellness goal you want to. Ideas:

- Get rid of 50 things this month.

- Create and use a cleaning system.

- Get your kids involved in helping to clean.

- Work on that big project you’ve been putting off.

FINANCIAL -

This is my simplest challenge.  I’m just tracking everything I spend. You could also:

- Spend only cash on groceries this month.

- Set aside $$$ for emergencies.

- Start saving up for something you want.

- Create and follow a budget.

Sooo…do I have your attention yet?

For your chance to win a $25 Amazon.com gift card to help supplement your holiday shopping, you can join the challenge.  There’s nothing official for you to “sign”, simply leave a comment below and let me know you’re in, and then continue to check in letting me know how it’s going!  You can get an entry EVERY SINGLE DAY for the rest of the month, simply by checking in!

Now…let’s get healthy and happy…., and good luck.:-)

I struggled with not buying too much on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I ended up buying a few things I didn’t really need and can’t use, so I will donate them. I did do a little better than I did last year!

I’ve been working on decluttering. We moved last year and had more stuff than we knew what to do with. We’re down to two tubs in the storage room and two in our closet. I’m going to work on going through that too.

I use the library a lot. It has books, movies and music. I don;t think enough people take advantage of it. Also my library has electronic books, I haven’t tried it yet but I plan it. The best part is it doesn’t cost anything. I have been renovating my apartment, organizing, decluttering. I really think the more stuff you own the more that stuff ends up owning you. I am traveling at the end of January and I am at a little under 220 lbs. I and I am going to bust tail to safely “Yes Safely” drop 30 lbs before I leave. Proper diet, cardio 1 hour everyday followed by weight training 1 hour everyday. I think that people over look weight training in general as a powerful tool in battling the bulge. I don’t train like a weight lifter. I don’t life one day on one day off. I will lift everyday and I don’t lift heavy. The results can’t be argued really. I’d like hope to win an exercise bike that is small someday. I hope if you set a goal yourself that you follow through with it. Best of luck to everybody.

I got divorced at age 22, and was left without a home; with nothing. I lived back and forth between a few different homes-stayed with my parents for a while, a cousin, my best friend. I started working 60 hours a week between two jobs to save money and pay off some debts, and to raise my credit score a little. I am proud to say that my success was finally being able to afford to move into my own apartment this past August. I am 25 now and still working two jobs in addition to going to school- I’m about to enter my final semester in January- and although life is still a struggle, I couldn’t be more proud of myself for turning my life around and overcoming some very difficult times.

I’ve been using Sparkpeople.com since July and I’m doing really well. Exercising 4-5 times a week, drinking water and eating my fruits and veggies.

I didn’t see this until today, but I’ve resolved to start exercising at least 5 days a week in December. I have a treadmill, and no excuses!!

I am wanting to work out a budget with my husband in the next week or two. It’s really hard to be motivated to sit down together and do it. Thanks for the challenge.

I’m struggling with getting enough sleep. I think after I get home and spend time with family, do the duties of the household and get the kdis to sleep, I crave alone time. Time to putter and I feel like for my sanity I need that more than sleep sometimes but I know I need the sleep. My body does. How to balance????

I have already started decluttering my home and I got a great book called Cleaning House and it’s about getting rid of youth entitlement. Great book by the way!
I need more routine and organization and darn it, I will have it :)
Thanks for the chance at winning!

I’m definitely working on the financial challenge….I feel like if I buy groceries with cash it’s not really a purchase since I don’t see negative in my bank account! :)

I’m in the process of de-cluttering the whole house and it is hard. I have not made any progress this week because everyone got sick.

I am tracking my spending and trying to save 10% of everything I spend. This is hard for me being on a limited budget, but I know I waste money on fast food and impulse buys, so it is doable.

I’m in! My goals are to drink less soda (and drinks that are high in sugar) and more water, organize the basement and declutter it, and not to overspend on groceries.

It is hard with the holiday spending. I also had to get some work done on the car and car insurance is due in Dec. I am trying to just pay it as fast as I can and keep track of where my money is going.

I realized I am way too hung up on trying to sell things on Craigslist to make back a little something. If it hasn’t sold in a month I itemize and donate it … done, out of the house and move on. My closet is my next clean out – need to get real and get rid of the things I have not worn in over two years.

My challenge is de-cluttering the house. With winter coming the piles just really get to me. I’m trying to tackle just one small area at a time. Keep only the best is a motto that helps me. The rest I will give away gladly.

I have been consistantly saving for my “mad money” for when we go on vacation in April. I only pay in bills (no change) and keep whatever change I get in my change jar – even if the total is $2.01, I don’t give the penny – I’ll give $3 and put the .99 in the jar………………………it really adds up – last year, I saved up $538 just in change – I do this just for my vacation money, but it could easily be started the beginning of the year and by the time Christmas rolled around, you’d have quite a bit saved up for gifts too!

One of my biggest challenges is getting rid of stuff and decluttering! MY sons family moved back home with me last fall, and we have so much stuff and not enough room for it all. So hard to get myself and them organized. Still trying though!

I’m doing ok but the holidays are definitely challenging with all of the groceries and gifts to buy. I really need to prioritize and figure out where to cut back.

The holidays are hard financially…not only are there gifts, but there are always awesome sales on food and it’s hard to not stock up! I am ashamed to admit it, but I used my credit card for groceries the other day so I could take advantage of food sales, and I didn’t have enough cash to stock up.

due to my poor health i already have to stretch and exercise daily, and drink lots of water, but not always easy to do 5 veggies every day

Getting veggies in every day is probably the hardest part of healthy living for me. I can drink water, eat fruit, etc, but man, I struggle with the veggies! Good for you for doing your exercises and stretches every day; consistency is key!

I have been trying to think about my budget once we have a second child. It is super overwhelming the thought of paying for daycare for two kids. It will be really tight so I am hoping that my husband might get a raise in april, otherwise we’ll think about if we’d be better off waiting another year

Hmmm, well I have several challenges to many to name at the moment. But I just live day by day so I don’t feel overwhelmed. I do make a lot of lists to. Of projects that need doing in the long run around the house, life goals, daily goals those usually go into my planner. Its not hard to feel overwhelmed. Weight wise trying to loose it so being more active means less time to snack, less money means less money to spend on snacks, and water is a lot cheaper and easier than the tons of sugary drinks. So at least i think i’m making some headway with that.

I decided last night to sit down and write out a chirstmas list. It really helps to see on paper who I need to buy for and I got a rough idea on budget. I am hoping to send aside extra cash this month since I get three paychecks this month rather than just two because of the way the weeks fall
